Maxwell inspired Aussies make it three from three

Glenn Maxwell has produced a scintillating innings to help Australia to a three wicket win in the third ODI against India.

Australia won the toss and elected to field, before India scored 6-295 off their 50 overs.

Virat Kohli was the star of the show for the tourists, scoring 117 from as many balls, as he became the fastest man to 7,000 ODI runs.

John Hastings claimed figures of 4-58 for the Aussies.

In reply, Australia reached the target of 296 with seven balls to spare and with three wickets in hand.

Opener Shaun Marsh scored 62, but it was Maxwell (96 off 83) who guided Australia to victory with a man of the match performance, after the match was delicately poised at 6-215 with 12 overs remaining, after Matthew Wade was dismissed for six.

Maxwell was dismissed with eight balls to spare, with the Victorian caught after trying to smash a ball to the boundary to hit the winning the runs and reach his century with one run remaining.

James Faulkner then hit the winning runs with a single to the off-side to give Australia an unassailable 3-0 lead in the best of five match series.

Game four of the series is in Canberra on Wednesday.
