The Pakistan Cricket Board have slammed a report suggesting multiple nations will not travel to the nation for the Asia Cup.

Pakistan, who were forced to host cricket in the United Arab Emirates for many years after security issues plagued the nation, have returned home in recent years.

Successfully hosting a number of nations, including a series against Australia last year, they are now set to host the Asia Cup in 2023.

India have suggested they will not travel to the nation for the tournament though, prompting the Asian Cricket Council to entertain the idea of potentially moving the tournament.

It's understood, according to CricInfo, that the decision on the host nation will be made in March by the Asian Cricket Council at their next meeting in Bahrain.

Pakistan have reportedly told India that they will not travel for the World Cup at the end of the year if they fail to travel for the Asia Cup, however, the report suggests other nations have also asked governments over travel arrangements to Pakistan.

The PCB suggested that conversation was never raised in the latest ACC meeting however.

Cricinfo, in its story under the headline Decision on Asia Cup venue postponed to March 2023, stated: “In addition, all ACC members are believed to have been asked to seek their own government's positions on whether their teams can travel to Pakistan." the statement read.

"The PCB wishes to clarify that no such matters were raised in the meeting, nor did any member indicate any intention to seek government clearance for playing in Pakistan. Sri Lanka has recently visited Pakistan in 2017 and 2019, while Bangladesh has toured Pakistan in 2020.

"In the 2023-2027 Future Tours Programme (FTP), which has been agreed and announced by all ICC Members, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have confirmed their tours to Pakistan."

The tournament is due to be played mid-year.
