Pakistan have prevailed against Australia with a six-wicket win in the T20 Tri-Series between Australia, Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

A brilliant innings by Aussie D'Arcy Short was overshadowed by Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman's 91-run knock, which guided Pakistan to a series win.

The final, played in Harare, Zimbabwe on Sunday, saw Pakistan record their highest ever T20 run chase as Australia's middle order again collapsed against Pakistan for a second time in the series.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first, which saw the Aussies get off to a good start, almost recording a century stand between the openers, before skipper Aaron Finch was dismissed for 47 runs in the 10th over.

Short carried the ship for Australia, as Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis fell cheaply before Short departed in the 17th over.

Short's wicket prompted a batting collapse from the middle order, as they only managed to add on another 35 runs as five wickets fell, with fast bowler Mohammad Amir finishing with 3-33 off four overs.

Australia set Pakistan a total of 184 runs to chase down, which the Aussies thought they were in with a good chance of defending after reducing Pakistan to 2-2 in the first over.

Despite the good start with the ball for the Aussies, it quickly turned into the Fakhar show as he smashed 91 runs off 26 balls, with an honourable mention of Shoaib Malik playing a support role with 43 runs.

The win sees Pakistan secure the World number 1 ranking for T20 cricket, with Australia sitting in 3rd position after having a golden chance to claim the top spot for the first time in their history if they'd won all five games in Harare.
