On the back of an unbeaten half-century from Michael Klinger and a fiery spell of bowling from Mitchell Johnson, the Perth Scorchers have defeated the Sydney Sixers by nine-wickets to claim their third Big Bash title at the WACA Ground.

Klinger finished unbeaten on 71 to guide the Scorchers home with 25 balls remaining to seal a comprehensive victory.

After being sent into bat by Scorchers captain Adam Voges, the Sixers got off to a terrible start losing three quick wickets and never quite recovered, as they finished on 9-141.

Wicket-keeper batsman Sam Whiteman got the Scorchers’ innings off to a flying start in reply, belting a 21-ball 41, before he was stumped off the bowling of Nathan Lyon. Klinger then brought up the winning runs with a huge six down the ground off the bowling of Botha.
