The Perth Scorchers will be forced to play any home finals at the end of the Big Bash League campaign in Melbourne, but Western Australian players have had enough.

The State premier Mark McGowan announced on Thursday evening that the date to reopen the state's border with the rest of the country had been pushed back from the original February 5 date due to the rapidly spreading omicron variant in every other state and territory of the country.

That will not only likely impact winter sports, but is also set to impact the remainder of the cricket season, with Australian players residing in Perth needing to quarantine upon their return to the state from either international or domestic action, while Western Australia are likely to be forced into playing Sheffield Shield and One Day Cup matches on the road.

Backup Australian wicket-keeper, and Perth Scorchers star Josh Inglis took to a now deleted Instagram post calling the Western Australian government "muppets."

“You (McGowan) have had two years to sort this out," Inglis wrote.

“Two years of bragging about how good you are. Two years to sort out your disaster of a hospital system with your record surplus.

“Two years of separating families and destroying people’s mental states in the name of health.

“Two years, we all did what you asked of us so we could get out of this.

“And you spat in our faces and take away any hope West Aussies had of this ending.

“You are a disgrace to this state and a disgrace to this country. Absolute muppet.”

The Scorchers will take on the Sydney Sixers for a chance to proceed directly to the Big Bash grand final on Saturday evening.
