Royal Challengers Bangalore (6/158) def. by Kolkata Knight Riders (4/159 off 15.1 overs)

An emphatic return from injury from Chris Lynn helped set up an impressive win for Kolkata in the IPL overnight.

RCB lost the toss, and were sent into bat. Their innings started poorly, with superstar Chris Gayle being removed off the first ball. Both Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers again failed to fire, bringing Travis Head to the crease.

Bangalore was 3/34 when the Australian made his way out to the middle. It was looking as though it was going to be another disappointing total for the side, however, Mandeep Singh (52 off 43) and Head (75 off 47) combined to make it respectable.

The South Australian blasted the bowling to all parts in his unbeaten knock. Two sixes and a four off the last three balls of the innings meant the final over went for an incredible 21 runs.

Not to be outdone by his fellow countryman, Chris Lynn picked up from where Head left off. In his first game back from injury, he came out all guns blazing. His score off 50 off 22 balls included nine boundaries. He and Sunil Narine (54 off 17) combined for 105 off just 37 balls. The blistering opening partnership setup would be a six wicket win.

Kings XI Punjab (3/189) def. by Gujarat Lions (4/192 off 19.4 overs)

A poor final over from Thangarasu Natarajan helped Gujarat claim a win over Punjab.

With the Lions needing eight runs to win off the the last over of the match, the Indian bowled two wides and gave away a boundary.

Earlier in the match, Punjab were sent into bat. After opener Martin Guptill was removed early, Shaun Marsh joined Hashim Amla at the crease. The two combined for an impressive 125 run partnership, to help set up a big score.

Shaun Marsh managed to score a half century, in what was a relatively conservative innings for a T20 match. He finished with 58 runs off 43 balls before being removed by Dhawal Kulkarni. He played second fiddle to Amla, who notched up an incredible 104 off just 60 balls.

Captain Glenn Maxwell came in for a late cameo, hitting 20 off 11 deliveries. That helped his side reach 3/189 off their 20 overs.

Australian James Faulkner got blasted around the ground once again, going 0/43 off four overs.

In reply, the Lions started off strongly, with Dwayne Smith smashing his way to 74 from 39 balls. He was finally removed by Glenn Maxwell, who finished with figures of 1/21 off two overs.

Despite Aaron Finch (two runs off two balls) failing to fire, the Lions would go on to win, making head coach Brad Hodge a very happy man.
