Moises Henriques during the Big Bash League match between the Sydney Thunder and the Sydney Sixers at Spotless Stadium on December 20, 2016 in Sydney, Australia.

Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques led from the front as his side chased down Sydney Thunder's target with two overs to spare in a big nine wicket win.

Henriques' unbeaten 76 paired with opener Daniel Hughes' 54 not out saw the Sixers eventually stroll to victory, although their run-chase was stalling before a massive over from the skipper.

Pat Cummins was on the receiving end from a big run by Henriques, as Henriques smashed the bowler for 6,4,4,2 and 4 in consecutive deliveries to see 21 runs from the seventh-last over, helping the Sixers move to just 40 runs to win from 36 balls.

The Thunder found themselves at 6-86 at one stage during their innings, but Cummins debutant opener Ryan Gibson put on a strong stand, as Gibson became just the second Thunder player alongside Jacques Kallis to score a 50 on debut.

Sydney fought home to post a defend-able total of 8/159, but the unbeaten 115 partnership between Henriques and Hughes was too much for the Thunder in the end.

3. Moises Henriques (Sixers)

The Sixers captain put together the match-winning knock, as his unbeaten 76 - which included a powerful 21-run over off Pat Cummins - saw the skipper lead his side to victory.

2. Daniel Hughes (Sixers)

Along with Henriques, Hughes also powered himself to an unbeaten half century, as was his captain's right-hand man throughout the entire chase.

  1. Jason Roy (Sixers)

The only other Sixers play to bat, Roy scored 27 from 18, but will be remembered in this game for smashing one of the biggest sixes the tournament will see this year, as well as one of the best catches of the summer.
