Steve Smith and Mitch Marsh have both been withdrawn from the remainder of the IPL due to injury.

Smith has been battling a wrist problem for the past week, with the Aussie captain deciding to return home for treatment ahead of Australia's ODI tour of the West Indies in June.

“Steve has been struggling with pain in his right wrist for the last week during his stint in the IPL,” Cricket Australia sports medicine manager Alex Kountouris said.

“We have been working with his IPL franchise Pune to monitor this and unfortunately it has not resolved. As such, he will return home from India for further assessment and treatment ahead of the tour of the West Indies.

“From the information we have so far, this doesn’t appear to be a serious injury but we are keen to give him the time to recover and rehabilitate before heading to the West Indies at the end of May.”

Meanwhile, Mitch Marsh's IPL campaign is also over due to a side strain.

“Mitchell experienced some pain over his left abdominal area whilst batting at a training session with his team Pune in the IPL a few days ago,” Kountouris said.

“He missed his team’s next game and the pain has not resolved. He had scans in India that suggest he has a side strain injury and will now return home for further assessment and treatment ahead of the tour of the West Indies.”
