Proteas captain Faf du Plessis is expected to appeal the ICC's decision after they handed down a guilty verdict for ball-tampering.
Du Plessis was found guilty of applying an artificial substance to the ball during the second Test in Hobart, as vision surfaced last week of the 32-year-old placing his finger on a lolly in his mouth and then shining the ball.
After a long hearing the ICC found the stand-in captain guilty, and he was fined 100% of his Hobart match fee.
Du Plessis has a 48-hour window after the verdict was handed down to lodge an appeal, but cricket.com.au understands du Plessis will appeal the ban.
If the batsman was to appeal, he would face being suspended for a Test match should the result not be overturned.
