Mitchell Starc leaves the field with a leg injury during day one of the first Ashes Test match between England and Australia in Cardiff.

Josh Hazlewood said he expects Mitchell Starc to bowl on day two, despite leaving the field before the end of play on day one.

Starc will be assessed this morning before play begins, after being unable to take the second new ball due a sore ankle.

Hazlewood said he is confident his fellow fast bowler will be fit to bowl in the first session.

"He'll be fine tomorrow," Hazlewood said.

"He'll get treatment from the physio, as all us quicks do each night after a day in the field."
