Mitchell has rocketed in the top of the ICC Test bowling rankings after his his career best 11-wicket haul in the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

Englishman James Anderson has regained the No.1 spot ahead of Indian spinner Ravi Ashwin, while Stuart Broad sits in third spot.

Australian Josh Hazlewood is tenth.

Meanwhile, in the batting rankings, Steve Smith has retained his No.1 ranking ahead of Joe Root, despite a lean series against Sri Lanka to date.

Joe Root and Kane Williamson are second and third respectively, while Adam Voges is fifth and David Warner is ninth.
