The Sydney Sixes have re-signed last season's leading wicket-taker, Sean Abbott for the 2017/18 Big Bash season.

Abbott, who has been approached by several rival Big Bash clubs, said after much deliberation he is confident he made the right decision.

"There were a couple (of suitors), including the old enemy in my old team the Thunder," Abbott said on the Sixers FM podcast.

"I thought hard about all of those, and really made sure I made the right decision.

"There were a few sleepless nights but I'm pretty happy to be staying at the Sixers."

The 25-year-old took 20 wickets in 10 games last season to help his side reach the final, at an average of just 16.15, to take his career tally with the club to 40 wickets

The side's first game of BBL07 is against the Sydney Thunder at Spotless Stadium on December 19.
