The Melbourne Renegades have signed Dan Christian, after the match winning specialist penned a three year contract after stints with the Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat.

The Renegades who are on the hunt for their first BBL title, have long stalked Christian, who has helped T20 franchises all around the world reach finals.

Christian has played in four T20 finals in season 2017-18 alone - the BBL, the Indian Premier League, England’s T20 blast and the Caribbean Premier League.

Christian is expected to bat in the middle order, with his clutch bowling would help replace the loss of Dwayne Bravo, who is out of contract and unlikely to return to the Renegades after five seasons.

Christian is currently playing for Delhi Daredevils under coach Ricky Ponting.

“Melbourne has been home for a while now so I’m looking forward to the opportunity to get involved with the Renegades,” Christian said from India.

“It’s a great fit for me with a playing group I’m very familiar with. There’s always a great atmosphere at Etihad Stadium.”

Coach Andrew McDonald has also sung his praises.

“By signing Dan we know we’ve got a T20 player who has proven his ability around the world over a long period of time,” McDonald said.

“He has the ability to change the game with his big hitting in the middle order. He also brings useful variations with the ball and plenty of experience bowling at the death so having that option gives the team added flexibility.”

The Renegades also this week announced the resigning of pace man Joe Mennie for a further two years and unveiled young guns Will Sutherland, Mackenzie Harvey and Zak Evans to their roster.

The Renegades are hoping to go all the way this season after falling to the Adelaide Strikers by one run in the semi final last year.
