Despite the looming threat of rain, the toss has been conducted on time ahead of the T20 World Cup final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with England winning the toss against Pakistan and electing to field first.

Given the threat of weather, it's little surprise that both teams wanted to field first, with Duckworth-Lewis potentially set to play a role later in the evening, although there is 60 minutes of make-up time up the sleeve before any overs will be cut.

Unlike normal games throughout the tournament, the final requires ten overs per side to constitute a game, while tomorrow's reserve day still remains an option.

At the toss, England confirmed that both Dawid Malan and Mark Wood would remain out, with the duo still battling injuries.

The English have otherwise named an unchanged side from their dominant semi-final win over India, with Phil Salt and Chris Jordan the replacements for the injured duo.

On the other side, Pakistan have no issues with injuries in their squad and are also unchanged, with Babar Azam confirming that they would try to put runs on the board and play aggressive cricket.

Play is scheduled to commence at the Melbourne Cricket Ground at 7pm (AEDT).
