The T20 World Cup fixtures for the 2022 tournament, to be held in Australia, have been confirmed.

Australia hosting the tournament was originally supposed to occur in 2020, however, was postponed owing to the outbreak of the global coronavirus pandemic.

The tournament, shifted to 2022, will now see seven venues around the country host matches, ranging from the first initial qualification round, to the Super 12 and on to the knockout rounds.

Eight teams have automatically qualified for the Super 12 round, while eight more teams will have the chance to fight for the four remaining spots.

Of those eight teams, England, New Zealand, Australia and Afghanistan have been drawn in Group 1, while India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh make up the other.

The qualification round sees eight teams split into two groups, with Sri Lanka and Namibia in Group A to be joined by two qualifiers, while the West Indies and Scotland are in Group B and will also be joined by two qualifiers. The winners and runners-up of each group will then be drawn into the Super 12 round, with a winner and runner-up added to each group.

The qualification round will be hosted at Kardinia Park in Geelong, and Bellerive Oval in Hobart, with the Hobart venue then to host a handful of Super 12 matches. The Gabba, Perth Stadium, Adelaide Oval, Sydney Cricket Ground and Melbourne Cricket Ground will then be brought online for the Super 12 stages.

The opening weekend of the Super 12 sees Australia take on New Zealand and India play Pakistan at the SCG and MCG respectively, while England will also play Afghanistan, and two qualifiers will face off in Perth and Hobart.

The knockout rounds, which are a straight semi-final and final format, will see the semi-finals played at the SCG and Adelaide Oval, before the final teams head to the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with the tournament to conclude on Sunday, November 13.
