With every Big Bash League side allowed only two overseas players on their books each season, each franchise is out to recruit the best players possible, meaning some of the stars of Twenty20 cricket grace Australian shores each summer.

It's more of the same ahead of the BBL06 season, as 16 overseas players make their way down under in search for Big Bash League glory.

Here at Zero Wicket we've decided to break down the list of all the overseas players and select our top five, as we run our eye over the five players who will make the biggest impact during the upcoming tournament.

Dwayne Bravo (West Indies)

The 33-year-old all-rounder returns to the Melbourne Renegades this season, and Dwayne Bravo is ready to stamp his mark on the Big Bash League.

Last season Bravo made four appearances for the Renegades and averaged an impressive 50.25 with the bat, at an impressive strike rate of 164.75.

His career T20 stats are as good if not better, as Bravo averages 25.13 with the bat and 23.95 with the ball, meaning he's a nightmare for any opponent over both innings'.

Brendon McCullum (New Zealand)

The 35-year-old opener has retired from international cricket, but continues to dominate at the T20 level.

Brendon McCullum will captain the Brisbane Heat for BBL06 and has asked his side to play an entertaining brand of cricket, something that he can certainly lead from the front in.

An average of 31.32 and seven centuries in his T20 career make McCullum one of the best at a domestic level, and after missing Brisbane's season last year due to international duty, McCullum will have no such distractions this time around.

Ian Bell (England)

One of England's most consistent Test performers over the past decade, Perth will be hoping Ian Bell can make a similar impact on the shortest form of the game.

Bell replaces Michael Carberry as Perth's overseas import and brings vast experience to the role, as the Englishman will certainly provide a mentoring role to younger teammates in the squad.

With a T20 average of 28.15 with 10 half-centuries, Bell is certainly no slouch with the bat, as he looks to help Perth advance that one step further this season.

Kevin Pietersen (England)

The return of Kevin Pietersen to the BBL is sure to excite fans, and his form of late means the former Test star arrives in Australia in fantastic nick.

Pietersen is averaging 47.26 in South Africa's T20 domestic tournament, as his career domestic T20 average sits just a shade below 35.

The 36-year-old will be one of the most watched and talked about players this tournament, and there's little doubt that he'll be able to thrive under the pressure.

Stuart Broad

The 30-year-old is in the best form of any of the overseas players heading into BBL06, as Hobart are getting ready to unleash Stuart Broad this summer.

Broad joins Kumar Sangakarra as Hobart's second foreign import, as the Hurricanes have quickly risen to boast one of the best overseas pair's in BBL history.

92 wickets at 20.66 from 77 T20 matches means the Englishman has the experience in the limited-overs format, and we believe Broad will be the best import during BBL06.
