Lethal batting all-rounder D'Arcy Short has signed with the Adelaide Strikers, putting pen to paper on a two-year contract on Tuesday.

Short, who has demonstrated an ability to bowl wrist spin in addition to his batting talents, represents an enormous recruiting success for the Strikers.

During his illustrious time donning a Hobart Hurricanes jersey, Short claimed two BBL Player of the Tournament awards, while also representing Australia in the T20 format.

The 32-year-old spoke glowingly about Adelaide Oval as a cricketing venue on Tuesday upon signing his Strikers agreement, stating he 'can't wait' to begin his Adelaide tenure.

"Adelaide Oval is such an incredible place to play cricket and I look forward to running out with my new teammates in front of big crowds – I can't wait to get going," Short said as part of a Strikers club statement on Tuesday.

"The Strikers showed last year what they are capable of at their best and I will be giving everything to help take the team to the next level, with the ultimate goal always being to lift that cup at the end.

"I am so thankful to the Hurricanes for my time in Hobart, it has been an absolute joy and I will always cherish the friendships and memories formed there.

"This is a new challenge for me and I am excited to get to work in Adelaide."

Strikers head coach Jason Gillespie expressed his excitement at being able to add a player of Short's calibre to Adelaide's strong squad.

"We're really excited that D'Arcy has decided to join the Strikers, he's a strong T20 player and brings that Australian experience too.

"As a two-time Player of the Tournament, we've all seen what he can do in the Big Bash, he's a powerful batter with the ability to bowl valuable overs.

"We're looking forward to welcoming D'Arcy to Adelaide and for him to strengthen our squad."

The Strikers will kickstart their BBL 13 campaign at Adelaide Oval against the Brisbane Heat on December 9.
