Victoria have announced paceman Xavier Crone has been added to their men's contract list following James Pattinson's decision not to continue his tenure with the side.

Pattinson and Victoria mutually agreed to part ways last month, opening a position in Adam Griffiths' bowling brigade for the summer ahead.

That position has now been filled by Crone, who returns to the squad after initially joining Victoria on a rookie deal six years ago.

Victoria's cricket boss Graham Manou expressed his delight in welcoming Crone back into the fold, while thanking Pattinson for his service.

“We're pleased to welcome Xavier back onto our contracted list, he has been part of the Victorian system for many years and is someone we see a lot of potential in,” Manou said in a club statement.

“We thank Cricket Australia, other state associations and the ACA for allowing us to replace the squad position vacated by James Pattinson.”

Crone was initially not offered a new deal for the 2022-2023 season, however firms as a chance to add to his sole first-class appearance under coach Chris Rogers.

The 24-year-old took four wickets against New South Wales on debut at the SCG last year.
