Matthew Wade has pulled out of the first ODI against New Zealand after sustaining an injury in the warm up.

Wade woke up with back spasms on the morning of the match at Eden Park, he tested it out in the warm up but decided to withdraw from the contest.

Aaron Finch has been promoted to skipper the side, with Sam Heazlett coming in for his ODI debut, he has been named to bat at seven. Peter Handscomb will take over as wicketkeeper.

Finch was dropped for the ODI series against Pakistan, but earned a recall to the side thanks to his fantastic BBL form, as well as the resting of David Warner and Usman Khawaja for the New Zealand series.

Finch won the toss this morning and elected to bowl first.
