Video footage has emerged of the violent incident that has placed Ben Stokes' Ashes chances in serious jeopardy.

Outside a Bristol nightclub on Monday, Stokes was seen throwing punches at two men in a wild brawl, and the footage below obtained by The Sun doesn't look good for the 26-year-old.

One saving grace for the all-rounder could be the face that he may have been acting in self-defense, given one of the other men in the altercation is seen to have a bottle and could have been threatening the cricket star.

Stokes was named in England's 16-man Ashes squad on Wednesday and was even selected at the side's vice-captain, but his position is now certainly under scrutiny.

Stokes broke his pinkie finger during the altercation, although he is still expected to be fit for the opening Test at the Gabba on November 23, should he still be in the squad.

“I saw Stokes throw 15 punches in one minute. No wonder he broke a finger,” a witness told The Sun.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan slammed Stokes for his actions, and unleashed a rant on Twitter, suggesting the Ashes may have already been lost before the tour begins.
