The Kings of Calypso Cricket have done it again, and while the West Indies fell short in the first T20 against Australia at Metricon Stadium on Wednesday night, it was a single moment in the first innings that had the cricket world left speechless.

In just the fourth over of the innings after the West Indies batted first, Kyle Mayers unleashed with an incredible inside-out shot over cover, reminding fans of something that would be more likely to be seen in the famous game Stick Cricket.

Clearing the front leg and opening his body, he unleashed with an uppish and unorthodox cover drive that disappeared into the second deck of the sparsely populated grandstand.

Former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist was famous for his own innovative batting, but Tweeted that he couldn't remember a better shot in the history of the game.

Mayers would ultimately top score for the West Indies, making 39 off 36 balls with that incredible shot being his only six of the innings.

Cameos from Raymon Reifer and Odean Smith would eventually get the tourists to 145 on the Gold Coast wicket, with Australia's front-line bowling attack of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins picking up seven wickets between them.

Australia's batting got off to a shaky start, but 58 from captain Aaron Finch, who dropped down the order to number four, as well as Matthew Wade's 39 not out from 29 balls ultimately saw the home side make it home with three wickets and one ball to spare.
