Will Sutherland has recommitted to the Melbourne Renegades, signing a new deal tying him to the franchise until the end of the 2024/2025 season, per reports from SEN.

The fast bowler has enjoyed a breakout Sheffield Shield season, taking the most wickets in the series with 41, with his Victorian side eventually falling to Western Australia in the decider.

The 23-year-old was forced to abandon plans to feature in the county cricket season in the UK after suffering a back stress fracture. Sutherland is now set to spend time on the sidelines recovering instead of playing for Essex, while the injury has also diminished his chance at an Ashes call up.

SEN has reported that Sutherland signed the new deal with the Renegades prior to his injury being confirmed through scans.

Sutherland was already locked in with the Victorian's until the end of the 2024-25 summer, with his new BBL deal now in line.

The all-rounder was recently awarded the Bill Lawry Medal after a standout season in the shield, claiming over 40 wickets and 400 runs.
