Australia has advanced to the semi-final of the women's World Cup with an eight wicket win over India.

Meg Lanning (76 not out) and Elysse Perry (60 not out) led the way for the Southern Stars, as they reached the target of 227 with just under five overs to spare.

Nicole Bolton (36) and Beth Mooney (45) also chimed in with important knocks at the top of the order.

Earlier, Indian opener Poonam Raut hit a hard fought 106, but it was not enough, as Australia restricted India to 7-226 from their 50 overs.

Megan Schutt and Elysse Perry claimed two wickets each, while Ashleigh Gardner and Kristen Beams both took one wicket.

Australia still have one game to go in the group stage, South Africa on Saturday, before the first of the semi-finals begin next Thursday.
