Queensland batsman Sam Heazlett has been called up to the Prime Minister's XI squad to face Sri Lanka in the first T20 match on February 15.

Heazlett will replace Victorian young gun Will Pucovski who was pulled out of the squad due to concussion.

Pucovski sustained the injury while fielding in Victoria's Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales, he was on debut.

National Selector Greg Chappell said it's another chance for Heazlett to earn his stripes against international bowlers.

"Sam is a really exciting young batsman and the Prime Minister’s XI match will offer him another chance to face an international bowling attack," Chappell said.

"His talent has already been recognised by the National Selection Panel, and we look forward to him grasping this opportunity against Sri Lanka with both hands."

In his four matches for the Brisbane Heat in BBL06 Heazlett scored 75 runs at a strike rate of 156.25.

Former Australian captain Michael Clarke will coach the side, with Australian veteran Adam Voges captaining.

The match will be played at Manuka Oval in Canberra at 7:15pm local time.
