The world's biggest, and richest T20 cricket tournament gets underway in less than a week.

To help you out we compiled a list of where the Australians are playing, and what to expect from them in this year's Indian Premier League.

DELHI DAREDEVILS

Pat Cummins

Fetched the biggest price at this year's auction of any Australian, being bought for $875,200. Should pair up with exciting young South African quick Kagiso Rabada to create an intimidating fast bowling partnership. The 4-over per bowler restriction will suit him, especially after a test recall.

GUJARAT LIONS

James Faulkner

An incredibly effective all-rounder in limited overs cricket. Faulkner, otherwise known as "The Finisher" comes up big when needed. Will play a key role with the ball, and should be handy as a lower order batsman.

Aaron Finch

Finch is one of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket. If he and the likes of McCullum and Suresh Raina can get going in the tournament, the Lions will be a dangerous side. Finch

Andrew Tye

Has been one of the best BBL bowlers for a while now, hopefully this means IPL appearances. He might have tough competition in the Lions swuad, but Tye's ability to take wickets, while maintaining an impressive economy will come in handy any time they need him.

KINGS XI PUNJAB

Glen Maxwell

To the surprise of some, Maxwell was named captain a couple of weeks ago. He is a proven all-rounder, and we know just how devastating he can be with the bat. After making his first test ton in the series against India, hopefully "The Big Show" will be able to carry his form on to the IPL.

Shaun Marsh

He had a mixed tour of India, producing a couple of excellent innings and a handful that weren't quite up to standard. Considering the strength of international talent it's tough seeing Marsh get a regular game, however he has shown time and time again with the Perth Scorchers he can be excellent batsman at T20 level.

Marcus Stoinis

He burst onto the international scene with a phenomenal performance against New Zealand in the ODI series. Stoinis was already a recognised T20 talent, and he will be hoping to provide for the Kings XI Punjab. It should provide a great opportunity for him to plant himself as an international talent.

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS

Nathan Coulter-Nile

The big quick fetched $680k at auction earlier this year. His hefty price will put some expectation on him, however he has shown he can be a good performer in the IPL, with bat and with ball. Fitness could be issue, he missed all of the BBL through injury.

Chris Lynn

"Lynn-sanity" took over BBL6. However, sadly injury affected how many games he could play, and his international limited overs campaign in the Australian summer. If Lynn is fully over any injury issues, expect him to go big throughout the tournament for Kolkata.

MUMBAI INDIANS

Mitchell Johnson

Johnson proved he hadn't missed a step in retirement, dominating BBL6 with the ball. The only Australian suiting up for the Mumbai Indians, and likely to play a big role in their campaign. A Johnson, Tim Southee combination could be devastating for opposition batsmen.

RISING PUNE SUPERGIANTS

Steve Smith

The captain of Australia, and the captain of Rising Pune, Steve Smith should be ready to go for IPL 2017. He had a magical series against India, and will be hoping this form will carry over into the tournament. Another thing to keep an eye on is how he and former skipper MS Dhoni handle the captaincy exchange.

Dan Christian

He surprised everyone when he came out with his career best T20 figures of 5-14 earlier this year in the Big Bash. Whether he consistently gets a game will be the question, hopefully if he does, he performs and cements his place. Fetched a relatively impressive $195,000 at auction.

Usman Khawaja

Selectors don't like Khawaja. It is still baffling to some how he didn't play in the recent test series between India and Australia. Chances are he won't be selected for the Supergiants first game either, however that will depend on form and health. We have seen in the Big Bash how good Khawaja can be in the shortest form of the game, if he gets the opportunity expect him to take it with both hands.

Adam Zampa

An incredibly good limited overs bowler. Was hard done by not to feature in all ODI and T20I matches in the Australian summer, but will be hoping this doesn't affect his chances of playing in the IPL. The withdrawal of Ravi Ashwin could mean Adam Zampa will get his opportunity.

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE

Travis Head

Had a solid stint in the Australian ODI team in the most recent summer, proving himself with the bat and as a part time spinner. Head has the chance to fly under the radar for the Royal Challengers, keep an eye on him.

Billy Stanlake

Big Billy Stanlake was picked up at auction for the first time this year (should be playing for the Supergiants). The quick earned an ODI call-up on the back of an impressive BBL campaign. Will hopefully earn a game throughout the tournament.

Shane Watson

The recently retired all-rounder is still a potent force in the shortest form of the game, plus there is no DRS. Watson is effective with both bat and ball, and Aussies know first hand how devastating he can be when he gets going. Should play an important role in Bangalore's campaign

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD

David Warner

It was a tough series in India for the Sunrisers captain, however he will take comfort in the fact his side were last years champions. Warner is a proven performer in the IPL, and one of the great T20 players of all time. If he can perform, Hyderabad will too.

Ben Cutting

Bowls quick and hits a very long ball. Cutting's batting makes him a very good talent in the IPL. Despite being Man of the Match for the final last year, he is unlikely to earn a place in the starting XI in the sides first game. Hopefully Cutting will force his way into the side and perform.

Moises Henriques

He has been in brilliant form in the Australian domestic season. Henriques will be hoping this translates into a big tournament for Hyderbad. He should play a role in their campaign, and it could be a big one from the New South Welshman.

Ben Laughlin

Laughlin is the BBL all-time leading wicket taker, with spinner Brad Hogg his closest rival, trailing by 15 wickets. Whether this means he will play is the question that will be answered. The Sunrisers picked him up relatively cheaply, selling for only $58k.
