A ball tampering incident has tainted dominant Victoria’s stranglehold on the Sheffield Shield final against South Australia in Adelaide.

The new ball was changed early in SA’s second innings after interference from Victorian coaching staff.

Replays showed a Victorian assistant - which appeared to be bowling coach Mick Lewis - pushing the ball towards arena pickets then scraping it on the gutter in the 10th over (9.4) of SA’s second innings. Mark Cosgrove had hit paceman Scott Boland to the boundary before the intervention.
