England are anticipated to make a pair of 11th-hour selection calls on injured duo Mark Wood and Dawid Malan ahead of Thursday night's semi-final against India.

Wood is battling stiffness ahead of the must-win encounter after a adding heavy workload to his 2022 campaign that has already been hindered by injury.

Malan suffered a groin issue in England's win over Sri Lanka last week and thankfully wasn't required in the run chase that secured their spot in the knockout stages.

Just hours from the penultimate match of the T20 World Cup, both Malan and Wood remain under an injury cloud as England prepare for the highly-anticipated matchup.

Captain Jos Buttler said medical staff are giving the duo all the time they need leading up to the clash at Adelaide Oval.

"We will try and give them as long as possible," Buttler said, via AAP.

"Obviously Dawid left the field the other day with a small niggle and Woody has had a bit of stiffness.

"But we will trust the medical team, we will trust those two guys as well.

"In all sport now, players don't always play at 100 per cent but of course you have to be able to fulfil your role in the team.

"So we will give that as long as we can with those guys and, as always, we have 15 guys preparing to play."

Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills, David Willey and Phil Salt were the four squad members not named for the win over Sri Lanka, with both Jordan and Mills likely in the frame to replace Wood should he fail last-minute fitness tests.

Salt is likely to get the nod to replace Malan should he too be ruled out of the semi-final, however England could look toward Willey should they rely on a more flexible bowling attack.

The winner of Thursday's semi-final will face Pakistan at the MCG on Sunday night to decide the T20 World Cup.

England and India will confirm their XIs closer to the toss, with the match to commence at 7:00pm (AEDT) at Adelaide Oval.
