A blistering half-century from Hardik Pandya wasn't enough for India on Thursday evening at the Adelaide Oval as England advanced to the final of the T20 World Cup by ten wickets.

India were slow out of the blocks with the bat after winning the toss, but it was a Hardik Pandya half-century which would allow them to make a competitive total.

Pandya too was slow to start on a surface which had enough in it for bowlers and batsmen alike, but scored his final 50 runs from just 17 balls before being dismissed hit wicket on the final ball of the innings.

It was Chris Jordan whose bowling Pandya took a liking to, with the injured Mark Wood's replacement for the semi-final being hit to all parts in his spell of 3 for 43 off 4 overs.

Earlier, it was Adil Rashid who set the tone for England, taking 1 for 20 from his five overs, including the prized wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, who made just 14 from 10 balls.

Pandya wound up with 63 from 33 balls, while former captain Virat Kohli made 50 from 40, and the score of 168 appeared as if it would be competitive.

India's bowling stood no match for the English batting assault though, with captain Jos Buttler and opening partner Alex Hales continuing their excellent form opening the innings.

The bowling simply had no answers, with England quickly advancing to 0 for 98 after 10 overs at the halfway point of the innings.

From there, things only accelerated, with Buttler and Hales taking the bowling to town, the score advancing to 154 from 14 overs as England piled on 56 runs in the 4 overs after drinks.

England would go on to claim victory in just 16 overs, bringing up the total off 16 overs zero wickets down.

England will now face Pakistan in the final on Sunday evening at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
