Ravindra Jadeja has impressed with a seven-wicket haul in his return to competitive cricket after being sidelined with injury.

Jadeja has been forced to sit on the sidelines for months after tearing a knee ligament during the Asia Cup last year, undergoing surgery in September to repair the injury.

Despite missing months of action, Jadeja returned in stellar form, captaining Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu in Chennai in a Ranji Trophy clash, taking 7-53 from 17.1 overs in the second innings.

Across both innings, the 34-year-old managed 41.1 overs of bowling, stating that he felt "very good".

“Feeling very good, playing a game after a long time. Hopefully, I am good to go now,” Jadeja said to PTI after stumps.

“The pitch was assisting me … When we were batting the odd ball was turning, it was keeping low. So I was keen to bowl long spells. I was enjoying it. Even the ball was turning, so I was enjoying it.”

Despite initially being named in India's side for the upcoming test series against Australia, the BCCI did clarify that Jadeja's inclusion would be subject to his fitness.

Jadeja though, thinks he is more than ready to face the Aussies next month.

“Yes, yes, yes. Very much," Jadeja answered when asked if he was ready for the upcoming series.

The four-test series is set to get underway on February 9 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
