The Hobart Hurricanes have confirmed the coup of veteran fast-bowler Chris Tremain for BBL|12, adding to a signing spree in Tasmania.

Tremain's signature follows that of fellow paceman Billy Stanlake and spinner Paddy Dooley for the tournament ahead, bringing with him 49 games of Big Bash experience.

The 31-year-old has plied his trade with the Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades, having last featured in the BBL with the former in 2019.

Tremain has tallied 41 wickets in the domestic competition, along with a further 268 first-class scalps.

The Dubbo product expressed his delight in rekindling his Big Bash career with Hobart.

“I’m really looking forward to wearing purple this year,” Tremain said.

“When you’ve got names like Ricky Ponting, Jeff Vaughan, Darren Berry and James Hopes involved in a team and they ask if you want to be a part of it, it’s a pretty enticing proposition.

“The Hurricanes obviously have a really strong bowling group so I think there’ll be strong competition for spots, but that is only going to make us more competitive both as individuals and as a team unit.”

Tremain will join the likes of Tim David, Nathan Ellis, D'Arcy Short and internationals Asif Ali (o/s), Faheem Ashraf (o/s) and Shadab Khan (o/s) in being among the Hurricanes' squad for BBL|12.
