As the Australian summer draws near, the Melbourne Renegades, among other sides, have announced a spate of signings ahead of the eighth edition of the tournament.

The red half of Melbourne have announced Jack Wildermuth will join the squad this summer, proving a crucial addition due to his batting and bowling abilities. Tom Cooper, Lea Tahuhu and Victorian Matt Short have also recommitted to the side as the Renegades search for their first BBL title.

North of the border, the Sydney Sixers have announced explosive batsman Daniel Hughes has re-signed with the club for a further two seasons after being named joint player of the tournament for the side last summer.

In the west, Adam Voges will again lead the Perth Scorchers as they seek to become the first team to go back-to-back in the tournament.

"The opportunity to come back here to the Furnace and play in front of big crowds again made it a pretty easy decision to re-sign," he said.

"The success we've had over the entire Big Bash has been exciting and lifting the BBL Trophy last year was a highlight of our entire season.

"We understand we can't become complacent this season, but I've got no doubt that we've got a squad that's capable of having another successful season."

The Big Bash season commences on Saturday December 9 with the Melbourne Renegades taking on the Sydney Thunder at North Sydney Oval.
