Kevin Pietersen is the latest star to sign on for the inaugural season of the Pakistan Super League.

Pietersen confirmed his involvement in the tournament, which is scheduled to begin in February, at the launch of the event in Lahore on Sunday via a video message.

"Absolutely buzzing to be a part of the Pakistani mela (event) coming up in February. I can't wait to get it started," Pietersen said.

"It looks like it is going to be a wonderful competition. Lots of fun, lots of sixes, lots of wickets, typical T20 stuff."

"I am really excited to be a part of this wonderful tournament and excited to get going. I will see you guys soon."

West Indian stars Chris Gayle, Kierron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine have already confirmed their involvement, as have New Zealand internationals Grant Elliott and Jesse Ryder, Sri Lankans Angelo Matthews and Masith Malinga and Australian Brad Hodge.

Pietersen has become a gun for hire since his axing from the English side, playing in the Australian, Caribbean and South African T20 competitions. "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
