The Australian squad for this month's Manuka Oval clash against the West Indies has been named, with Josh Inglis returning to international competition as skipper of the squad.

Inglis hasn't featured at international level since breaking his hand in a golfing incident last month, but has since returned through the Marsh Cup.

Test hopefuls Marcus Harris and Peter Handscomb will also feature, given the opportunity to prove themselves under the lights in Canberra.

Five players, including former test opener Matthew Renshaw, have previously played test cricket.

The 2022 PM's XI match marks the first of Anthony Albanese's leadership, and the first in two years after a COVID-forced break.

"The Prime Minister's XI has a rich history within Australian Cricket and I am delighted to confirm the squad as we celebrate its 70th year," said Albanese.

"Following an engaging selection meeting with George Bailey and Tony Dodemaide, we have agreed on a squad that mixes the country's most exciting young cricketers with some highly experienced players.

"I want to thank Josh Inglis for taking on the role of captain and look forward to watching him lead a side which will compete strongly while remaining true to the traditions and values of the Prime Minister's XI."

The PM's XI match will get underway under the lights at Manuka Oval on November 23.

Following the PM's XI match, Australia will host the West Indies in a two-test series in Perth and Adelaide.
